What Is 1/2 - 1/3
Welcome to the Smartick blog! In t his week'south post, we are going to learn how to calculate halves, thirds, and fourths . These expressions are non only used in math problems, just also in daily life.
Exercise you lot know what they are? Do you know how to summate them? In this post, you will realize how like shooting fish in a barrel information technology is to calculate halves, thirds, and fourths.
Halves
I half is equivalent to the fraction: i/2. T herefore, it is half of any amount. Halves are calculated by dividing by 2.
For instance:
One one-half of x = ½ of ten = 10/ii = 5.
I half of 34 = ½ of 34 = 34/2 = 17.
Three halves of 14 = iii/two of 14 = iii x 14/2 = iii x 7 = 21.
Thirds
I third is equivalent to the fraction: 1/3. T herefore, it is a tertiary of an amount. Thirds are calculated by dividing by 3.
For example:
1 third of 24 = 1/3 of 24 = 24/iii = 8.
One 3rd of 33 = 1/three of 33 = 33/three = 11.
Five thirds of fifteen = five/ 3 of 15 = 5 x fifteen / 3 = 5 x five = 25.
Fourths
One fourth is equivalent to the fraction: 1/4. T herefore, it is a quarter of an amount. Fourths are calculated by dividing by 4.
For example:
One fourth of 20 = ¼ of twenty = twenty/4 = 5.
One fourth of 28 = ¼ of 28 = 28 / four = seven.
7 fourths of viii = 7 / four of 8 = 7 x eight / 4 = 7 x 2 = 14.
